The holidays are my favorite time of year. All my senses are activated; the sights of the beautiful decor, the sounds of the hustle and bustle of gift giving, the smell of delicious treats. But most important is the feeling I have when I get to connect with family and friends.

On December 8, that was no different.  NSA-Michigan hosted its annual Holiday Party. Over 20 members of NSA-Michigan and spouses joined together at my home in Farmington Hills for a mix of food, fun, and friendship. Everyone brought a dish to pass, enjoyed the conversation and connection, and stayed for the epic Speaker White Elephant gift exchange. Each guest was asked to bring a “speaker”-related white elephant gift that they had laying around the house. There were tons of laughs, gift exchange strategy, and, of course, gift “stealing.” The white elephant gift exchange was the “hit” of the party.

One of the many benefits of being a member of NSA-Michigan is the community that we build. The speaking business can be a lonely one. You do so much of it by yourself. NSA-Michigan provides the support and connection needed to have a thriving and successful business.

Events like our Holiday Party help us continue to foster the Spirt of Cavett. Founder of the National Speakers Association, Cavett Robert, believed that as speakers we aren’t in competition with each other; there is more than enough business to go around. He believed in an abundance mindset. If we feel like the pie isn’t big enough, then it’s our job to build a bigger pie.

Members of NSA Michigan are like my extended family. It’s a privilege to share, connect, and grow with each of them. NSA-Michigan, thank you for making my pie that much sweeter. Happy Holidays!
